Easy reading and accessibility
This website is built to be easy to read and use. Here is how to get the most from it.
Make the text bigger
At the very top of every page there are three buttons marked A. Press the bigger ones for bigger text. The website remembers your choice on that device.
You can also make everything bigger using your browser: hold Ctrl and press + (on a Mac, Cmd and +). On a phone or tablet, pinch the screen with two fingers.
Stronger colours
Press High contrast at the top of the page for black text on white and simpler colours.
Print a page
The Litter picking facts page is set up for printing, with a button to do it. The web addresses are printed too.
What we have done
- Large, clear writing in a typeface designed for easy reading.
- Plain English, short sentences and one job per page.
- Big buttons and links that are easy to press.
- No adverts, no pop-ups and no moving or flashing things.
- Works with a keyboard and with screen readers, and photos have descriptions.
- Works on phones, tablets and computers.
Our aim
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We have run automated checks, but the site has not had a formal audit, so there may be things we have missed.
Tell us if something is hard to use
